Find a good free desk. Anywhere.
Cowork Free started because we kept walking into cafés that looked perfect on Instagram and turning around five minutes later. No plugs. Terrible Wi-Fi. A sign above the counter: no laptops after 12pm.
We wanted one place to know, before we set out: does this venue actually welcome people with laptops? What’s the Wi-Fi speed? How long can I stay? Is there a min spend? Every other directory either wants $40/month from you, sells ads to the venues that pay most, or tracks you across the internet. We built the opposite.
What we promise
- Free for everyone who looks for a seat. The directory, the map, the mobile app, all free, no account required.
- No ads, no commissions.We make money only from venues that pay for Plus or Pro listings. Free listings aren’t demoted or buried.
- No tracking.No advertising SDKs, no analytics that profile you. We don’t know who you are and we don’t want to.
- Real data from the people sitting there. We pull baseline data from public sources, then verify it with reviews, on-the-ground notes, and laptop-friendliness signals from real visits.
Who’s behind it
A small team that works from cafés, libraries, coliving lobbies, and the occasional hotel restaurant between flights. We built the app we wanted to exist when we landed in a new city at 2pm on a Tuesday with three hours of work to do.
Cowork Free is shipped by Ikaroa. We run the platform from Dubai.
What’s next
More cities. Faster on-the-ground verification. A venue claim flow that takes five minutes. Live busy-now signals so you know if it’s packed before you walk over. An API so travel apps can plug the directory into their own experience.
